David Ryder

Founder, Prospero Media

I started my career at Euromoney in Hong Kong and London in 1995, publishing and editing financial and professional services B2B titles. That gave me something most communications professionals never get — a genuine understanding of what journalists need, what readers want, and what makes financial content worth publishing.

Over the following two decades I moved from the publishing side to the institutional side, leading investment communications at Mercer Investments, Fidelity Investments and Lloyds Banking Group / Schroders Personal Wealth. I’ve written CIO white papers, built content programmes from scratch, trained C-suite executives for media appearances, and led award submissions — winning three in 18 months at Mercer alone.

At Schroders Personal Wealth I restructured the webinar programme, tripling attendance, and redesigned the daily market update — growing subscribers from 250 to 7,500 in 18 months. My performance was rated in the top 2.5% of the workforce.

I have also written and co-written books, broadcast for the BBC, contributed to the Independent on Sunday and Daily Express, and worked with clients including Barclays, Morgan Stanley, KPMG, Freshfields and the New York Stock Exchange.

Since 2021 I have run Prospero Media from Luxembourg, providing communications consulting for institutional, wholesale and retail financial clients in Boston, Zurich, London and Luxembourg — as well as serving as Communications Director at a not-for-profit organisation building free regulatory resources used by tier-one financial institutions across the US and Europe.
